MISSION
Ankeny Xtreme is the competitive program of the Ankeny Girls Softball Association (AGSA). AGSA exists to provide opportunities for girls to play fastpitch softball by promoting and supporting fastpitch competitive softball in the Ankeny School District. Emphasizing development of fundamental softball skills in a fun, safe and competitive environment, AGSA has the objective of ensuring that girls participating in the program will have a positive and rewarding experience that will maximize personal and team growth.
What is AGSA?
AGSA is made up of a Board of Directors, participants and their parents. Nominations and elections of all officers are held in October of each year at a time announced to all voting members. The family of each child participating in the softball program shall be granted one vote per member (18 years or older) of a participating child. AGSA holds announced meetings on the first Monday of each month, in which any member of the Association may come and participate. Association decisions are made according to parliamentary procedure where motions are made and seconded, discussion held, votes recorded and minutes taken. We have written by-laws, which are available publicly on this website. The Board of Directors is responsible for: organizing the Association; assigning coaches; representing the Association in meetings with the local community; setting overall policy direction; managing the budget; developing the yearly calendar of events; acting as the final decision body for any issues; establishing a code of conduct for players, coaches and fans that is in the best interest of fair play and sportsmanship; and identifying the tactical objectives to achieve these strategic goals.
AGSA Goals and Objectives
The business, purpose and object of the Ankeny Girls Softball Association shall not be for profit but shall be as follows:
- To provide a recreational softball opportunity through the Recreation League program for any girl wanting to play softball, whether they reside in the Ankeny School District or not, and to provide a competitive softball opportunity through the AGSA Competitive program for girls attending school in the Ankeny School District or residing within the Ankeny School District.
- To promote a high level of sportsmanship among participants, parents, coaches, and spectators.
- To develop physical skills related to softball and good moral character.
- To provide facilities and equipment necessary for the safe operation of said Association.
- To provide an opportunity for each girl to participate regardless of race, religion, or physical/mental ability.
- To establish and maintain rules and regulations providing fairness to all participants.
